My brother is another year older! Ok, he's not my official brother but we do talk often about cutting our palms and making it official...BLOOD BROTHERS ..but then again, can words bee powerful enough for promise? Does blood need to bee spilled? Thoughts like this have been bringing me back to the question of does a ring need to rest there on that certain finger? So if you happen to bee the one to want to marry this certain ninja-a little advice, do not hide a ring in a cupcake (I'd probably swallow it with a smile) and know that my vision of a 'wedding' is actually us dressing as foxes and committing our visions as one under warm sunshine, atop soft pine needles, and with a holy tea ceremony to wash it all down.

Amazing Chocolate Avocado Pie Recipe

The only thing I changed was to use a pinch of nutmeg rather than 2 t.

I have finally entered the world of sprouted wheat bread!

It was fun to watch the little sprouts emerge over three days, let my dough rise with the sun after an early morning kneading, and then taste the wonderful taste of sprouted wheat berries.

My first go at vagan cupcakes. They started to rise...just a bit later I peeked in the faintly lit, foggy glass oven cheering them onward and upward only to find sunken centers! I filled the empty hole with warm chocolate and cashew pieces.
I'll have you know, licking the cashew butter from the spoon made up for any sadness I might have felt.

My poor little knitting needles haven't made their klickity klack in weeks....they have been set aside for urgent matters (My sister's handmade wedding). My sister got married last weekend to a wonderful, Scottish man. It was such a beautiful day and I was so happy to meet my new brother's family and friends! My sister looked so beautiful in her hand made bodice.
So, instead of knitting it's been mostly sewing for me. Tis my honor to apprentice under my mother.My sister and I were feeling let down by our Home Economics course in jr.high (having only made windsocks) and were quite eager to learn.
My mom had learned to make her very own, wearable clothing! The confusing dress patterns still seem a bit scary but I've undertaken one on my own. I've got my master seamstress of a mother to help me along the way. I'm making Dorthy her
wizard of oz dress. I'll show you pictures if you're lucky.

Speaking of my mother, she was once a full-time baker. I used to dream of
working in a bakery making fluffy pasteries, unmistakable homemade bread,
and peas pudding pie... yes it's my dream to wake up at 3 a.m. to bake.
My baking adventures usually end at 3 a.m.

I'm posting this specifically for my brother Zurichy.

Here is the recipe for homemade pumpkin roll

along with some pictures to help you out.:

From the back of a Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin Can

(and a few of my own alterations):

Ingredients-

Cake:

Powdered sugar

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp. ground cloves

*(1/2 tsp. ground ginger and nutmeg) The recipe doesn't call for this but I added it

1/4 tsp. salt

3 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

2/3 cup Libby's 100% pure pumpkin

1 cup walnuts (optional) *I don't add these

Filling-

1 Pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese softened

1 cup sifted powdered sugar

6 Tbsp. butter softened

1 tsp. vanilla extract

Powdered sugar

For Cake: Preheat oven to 375*F. Grease 15 x 10-inch cookie sheet, line with was paper.

Grease and flour paper. Sprinkle a thin, cotton kitchen towel with powdered sugar.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and salt in small bowl. Beat eggs and sugar in large mixer bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Stir in flour mixture. Spread evenly into prepared pan. (sprinkle with nuts if you are adding them)

Bake for 13-15 minutes or until top of cake springs back when touched. Immediately loosen and turn cake onto prepared towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting with narrow end. Cool on wire rack.

For FILLING: Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter and vanilla extract in small mixer bowl until smooth. Carefully unroll cake: remove towel. Spread cream cheese mixture over cake. Reroll cake. ...Refrigerate at least one hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
